Moreland University: Tennessee Certification Guide
In this article, we will review the licensure requirements for Tennessee, which issues a 3-year Practitioner License through TNCompass. There are two pathways depending on whether you are affiliated with an approved TN partner school.
*Through Moreland's program, you will apply for the Practitioner License. Please refer to the TN DOE website to upgrade to the Professional License.

Out-of-State Educator Preparation Verification Form
Two license pathways depending on your school affiliation. Identify which applies to you before beginning.
Pathway 1 — If you are affiliated with an approved TN partner school (Job-Embedded)

Hold a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university

Your program must have a formal partnership agreement with your Tennessee school district on file with the Office of Educator Licensure
- Submit qualifying scores on all required content assessments — content exams must be on file before the form can be signed. Send the passing score report to your Program Advisor.

Your Program Advisor will request the Out-of-State Educator Preparation Verification Form to be completed. Moreland will send the form directly to the TNCompass.

Passing scores on the required pedagogical assessment (Praxis PLT or edTPA) must be submitted before renewing or advancing the Practitioner License
Pathway 2 — If you are NOT affiliated with a partner school

Hold a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university

Submit qualifying scores on all required content and PLT assessments to TNCompass
- Request the Out-of-State Educator Preparation Verification Form to be completed. Moreland will send the form directly to the TNCompass.
- Ensure official transcripts are submitted by Moreland through an approved clearinghouse (Parchment) to Educator.Licensure@tn.gov, or mailed to: 710 James Robertson Pkwy, 9th Floor, Nashville, TN 37243
- Meet the TN Literacy Success Act requirements (qualifying training or assessment, if applicable)
Transcripts
Official bachelor's transcript (US) or NACES-approved evaluation. Order Moreland transcript via Parchment. Official electronic degree-dated transcripts are accepted; unofficial transcripts are not. Transcripts must be submitted by Moreland (the institution) to TN DOE through Parchment.

Create or log into your TNCompass account and follow the application instructions. Review the TN Department of Education's Licensure Resources for endorsement code listings, forms, and guidance documents.
Notes and Tips:

Identify your pathway (partner school vs. non-partner) before starting — requirements differ, particularly around when pedagogical assessments are due.

Transcripts must be submitted by Moreland through Parchment directly to TN DOE — candidates cannot submit them independently.
