Grading Policy: A Candidate Guide

Moreland University's grading system is built around one goal: making sure you are genuinely ready to teach when you finish the program. This guide breaks down how you'll be assessed, how resubmissions work, what happens if you need to take a break, and what's required for program completion.

How You're Assessed

All activities throughout the program are graded using rubrics based on the InTASC (Interstate Teacher Assessment and Support Consortium) standards — the same standards most US states and international schools use to evaluate teacher readiness. Rubrics also reflect Moreland's emphasis on collaboration and effective use of technology.

Each module is made up of weekly units, and each unit includes 2–4 project-based activities that you submit every week. Your module score is the average of all unit scores within that module.

Your instructor scores each activity using clear, consistent, and measurable criteria — and provides detailed feedback to support your growth.

Resubmissions: Your Opportunity to Improve

Moreland University believes in the growth mindset. If you receive any score below 4.0 on an activity, you have one opportunity to resubmit it.

How resubmissions work:

  1. Review the detailed feedback your instructor provided.

  2. Make meaningful improvements based on that feedback.

  3. Resubmit the activity — only once.

Activities may not be resubmitted more than one time. All instructors are required to follow this policy uniformly.

Deadlines and Late Work

Each module closes 2 weeks after it ends. Once a module closes, no late work will be accepted.

If you have extenuating circumstances that affect your ability to submit on time, contact your instructor as soon as possible — before the deadline, not after.

Viewing Your Grades

You can access your grades directly on the learning platform. It shows your scores for every activity across all modules and updates as soon as your instructor submits feedback on a graded activity.
